CapitalBox to become Finnish Athletics Federation’s main partner – Olympic winners are part of the new sponsorship concept

The Finnish Athletics Federation and CapitalBox, Northern Europe’s leading SME-financing Fintech company have signed a four-year cooperation agreement to make CapitalBox the new main partner of the Finnish Athletics Federation.

“This is a new model of cooperation. Together with CapitalBox, the Finnish Athletics Federation has built a comprehensive supranational sponsorship concept in which athletics has been chosen as the company's strategic sport,” says Jari Töykkä, Managing Director at Track&Field Finland Oy, the company in charge of marketing for the Finnish Athletics Federation.

“In the first phase, CapitalBox will launch a cooperation with the Finnish Athletics Federation in Finland. At the same time, Team CapitalBox, which consists of top athletes from Finland and Sweden, will also be used internationally in marketing to other countries.

Team CapitalBox includes Swedish Olympic winner in the discus Daniel Ståhl, Swedish Olympic winner and world record holder in the pole vault Armand Duplantis, and top Finnish athletes in the triple jump Kristiina Mäkelä and Senni Salminen. In the future, the team will be expanded for the implementation of the sponsorship strategy in other countries.

– In Finland, CapitalBox will be extensively involved in athletics activities, including domestic televised competition events such as the annual Finland-Sweden Athletics International, which will return to the Helsinki Olympic Stadium next year. For CapitalBox, the cooperation is also a way of inspiring children and young people to participate in sports. Team CapitalBox athletes will be setting an excellent example for them.

Full-Scale financial services for SMEs

CapitalBox operates currently in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Lithuania and UK and is opening new markets during the coming year. The company ompany offers versatile financing solutions and is developing a comprehensive financial services platform for Small and Medium size businesses in Europe.

Scott Donnelly, Chairman of the Board at CapitalBox, sees the values of the company and those of its client base as having many things in common with top-level international athletics, in which individual athletes aim for success, but they do it with the support of top professionals in various fields.

“Just like an athlete who is not discouraged by defeat or injury but finds the motivation to continue, the will of small business owners to survive a global pandemic or other adversities, encourages and inspires us in our work,” says Donnelly.

“At CapitalBox, we support our clients by providing them with funding when they need it the most. With this partnership, we also hope to maintain the never give up attitude of our client base.”

Outi Päivinen, Head of Marketing at CapitalBox, has the same expectations for this cooperation.

“Entrepreneurs and athletes who have succeeded at the Olympic level have shown that, with the right level of commitment and hard work towards achieving your goals, anything is possible.”

”These athletes act as active role models for both to hard working entrepreneurs as also for youth and children to encourage healthy lifestyle. We are happy to be supporting this kind of development in working communities as well as in society in general.” says Päivinen.
